Our Preschool Portrait Process: From Start to Delighted Parents
Invite us to your preschool or daycare center for a Portrait Day, and we'll get your kids to smile for the camera and their parents to jump for joy when they see the photo proofs! The best part for you is that we do most of the planning and setup. You have enough responsibilities already. And did you know our professional portraits come at NO COST to your school? You make money when parents order portraits so it's an incredible fundraiser!
Letting People Know Portrait Day Is Coming
All we need from you is to share the materials we give you with the parents and help publicize the event using our materials. Be sure to remind the parents to have their kids wearing their dress-up clothes on Portrait Day.
We'll touch base with you again one week before portrait day to finalize the details and answer any questions you might have.
Preview Time
In about a week following the shoot, parents are presented with various poses and smiles of their child or children. If there are siblings who go to the same daycare or preschool, we always like to get a picture of them posed together — along with the individual shots.
The parents may view these either through an online gallery or by looking over the physical proofs we send. Either way, they can select their favorites and place their orders.
When Portrait Day Arrives
On the day of the event, Southern Smiles Portraits will arrive early at your facility to get our equipment set up. We bring absolutely everything needed for the shoot!
This includes cameras, lenses, a backdrop, lights, props, chairs, combs, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and various other essential paraphernalia. Our staff will make sure each child looks her or his best, with face clean, hair combed, and clothing free of dust or crumbs.
The Final Product
In another two or three weeks, the orders parents placed will be delivered to their children's preschool or daycare for them to pick up.
If the school directors are amenable, we also can ship the photo orders directly to the family's home address for a small additional fee. With this option, once the parents place orders for digital images, they can download them immediately following payment.

Our Rate Structure and Portrait Packages
It costs the preschool or daycare nothing to have us come out and photograph their kids. We offer preschools and daycare directors a commission on the total sales made for a given photography program. Preschools always need cash for events and supplies, so we're sure they will put the extra cash to good use.
Each of our photos is carefully and professionally edited, cropped, and color-corrected. If parents want more advanced editing services, such as retouching, we offer these as well, for a small fee.
